Coach Farley would love to see every student athlete obtain a quality education while playing football at the collegiate level. “It’s the most fun you, and your parents, will ever have together.”

Klundt hits game winning FG to beat #1 ranked team!

I just saw a number that blew me away in an article from Axios… over 8,000 football players are in the portal (and that was in 2023, it’s even more this year)!

The transfer portal makes it possible to switch to a different school (and football program) without losing eligibility. “Back in my day”, transferring to a different school was not common place because it cost you a full year of eligibility. With few constraints, players move at the drop of a hat.

BUT IS THAT GOOD THING?

It is if you were one of those guys who got recruited and then “your coach” got fired or got plucked by a larger school. You might want to find a new program to play in. But what it REALLY means is that mom & dad and student-athlete put their faith in a program that wasn’t a good fit for them. The upheaval of changing schools is not an easy thing. Backing out of a commitment is bad form. What lessons are actually learned and will these 8,000+ kids be happier in greener grass? Sadly, most are now thinking “green” in cashing in on the NIL money, but the time to really think about your future is now.

What do you want it to be?

What’s most important to you?

I’d love to hear your comments below.
